Additional Roles And Responsibilities
Employees of the Association
There shall be a Personnel Committee consisting of the Table Officers responsible for job description, contract negotiations, evaluation, hiring and releasing of WTA employees. This committee may be augmented by other Association members in a consultative role.
Personnel cases
The President, Vice-President and Business Agent shall address personnel cases.
Surveys
I. Surveys of members may be undertaken with the approval of Executive.
II. A report on the results of the survey shall be made to, and approved by the Executive, prior to dissemination of results.
WTA Representatives on Committees Of The Division
I. The President shall name Association reps to Division committees.
II. Those members named to be WTA representatives on Division committees shall present the WTA position and shall report to the Executive as required.
III. The WTA appointee should either be a member of the WTA Committee (if a WTA committee of similar nature exists) or become such a member.
IV. The President shall have full discretion in placing a report from the WTA rep on an agenda without prior notice.
V. WTA reps shall be encouraged to submit to the President available documents, i.e. agenda, notes made by the WTA rep and other relevant information, and further that the rep be encouraged to maintain their own file.
VI. In the event that a Division Committee completes its mandate or dissolves for other reasons, that a detailed report (written and/or verbal) be given to the Executive (report to include past events and possible recommendations for future WTA action.)
Technical Devices and Peripherals
If a member of the WTA Executive wishes access to a technical device and related peripherals, they will sign and abide by the terms and conditions outlined in the Technical Device and Peripherals Agreement (below) which has been approved by the Executive. In addition, the following shall apply:
i. For the President and Vice President, the maximum purchase price for one device including peripherals, will be up to $3000. This dollar amount shall be reviewed and adjusted as required on an annual basis by Table Officers.
ii. Devices, including peripherals, will be provided by the Association for other Executive members. The types of devices provided will be reviewed and adjusted as required by Table Officers.
iii. The terms and conditions of the Technical Devices and Peripherals Agreement shall be reviewed and adjusted as required by Table Officers.
iv. If members require funds in addition to those outlined above, they are to seek clarification and approval from the Table Officers prior to the purchase.
(Peripherals may include items such as a case, software, extended warranty, protective cover, key board etc.)
Technical Device and Peripherals Agreement
1. This Agreement is entered into between the Winnipeg Teachers’ Association and the Executive Member whose name appears below and who has signed this Agreement.
2. In signing this Agreement, the Executive Member using Association technology is responsible for:
a) taking reasonable measures and act responsibly to protect the equipment from any misuse, loss, theft or damage, and promptly inform the Association in any such event;
b) bearing the costs of any Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) claims;
c) keeping the equipment in a well-protected, temperature controlled environment when not in use;
d) taking reasonable measures to ensure that any and all provided network credentials are protected from access by unauthorized users;
e) keeping the equipment free from any “skins”, writing, drawing, stickers or labels that are not property of the Winnipeg Teachers’ Association;
f) Returning the equipment and related peripherals (protective cover, Bluetooth keyboard, etc) at the end of their elected term, or purchase the device as per the depreciation schedule outlined at the end of this document.
3. Loss or damage to the equipment or peripherals shall be the responsibility of the Executive Member. If the loss or damage is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty or by the WTA insurance policy, the Executive Member will only be required to pay the applicable deductible.
4. Executive members shall have the following options to buy the equipment and peripherals:
a) During the first year of use of a new device, an outgoing Executive member may purchase the equipment and related peripherals for 75% of its purchase price.
b) During the second year of use, an outgoing Executive member may purchase the equipment and related peripherals for 50% of its purchase price.
c) At the conclusion of the third year of use, an outgoing Executive member may keep the equipment and related peripherals at no cost.
d) At the conclusion of the third year of use, remaining Association equipments will be evaluated and replaced if necessary. If an outgoing Executive member elects to purchase the equipment and related peripherals, the Association will purchase new equipment for the incoming Executive member.
e) In the event the device is returned to the office and assigned to a new member the following shall apply:
