Dear WTA Members:
Your Negotiations team has been working hard all year with the goal of achieving a new collective agreement. On the morning of May 20, the WTA and WSD reached an Agreement-in-Committee for a new collective agreement. Due to a severe deadline created by the pending passage of Bill 45 in the Manitoba legislature that same day, the WTA conducted a successful on-line ratification vote in the afternoon. The Winnipeg School Board ratified the agreement later that evening.
The following was ratified by both parties:
This collective agreement shall come into force and take effect as of the first day of July, 2018, and shall remain in force for four (4) years until June 30, 2022.
SALARIES, RATES AND ALLOWANCES
First Day Fall Term 2018: 1.6 %
First Day Fall Term 2019: 1.4 %
First Day Fall Term 2020: 0.5 %
First Day Fall Term 2021: COLA*
*COLA is to be determined as follows: in January 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter, when the 12 month (January to December 2021) average annual Statistics Canada Consumer Price Index for Manitoba (All Items) change is made known, the increase will be applied retroactively to September 1, 2021.
ARTICLE 16: INTEREST ON RETROACTIVE PAY
Waived for this round of bargaining.
ARTICLE 20.11 : LAY OFF PROCEDURE
The deadline for notification of layoff is extended from May 1st 2021 to June 18th 2021 for layoffs effective June 30th 2021.
