Year’s Achievements
- Committee was successful in implementing differential rates for WTA active members and retirees. The active members did not see a rate change. The rates for active members remained at $49.73/single and $103.79/family. The retirees saw a change of 12% at $55.70/single and $116.24/family.
- Committee adopted the 2010 Dental Fee Guide and maintained a deductible holiday.
- Committee this year helped fund WSD's Pre-retirement Seminars.
- Committee increased the number of its Maternity/Adoptive/Parental Leave Seminars. It ran two successful seminars this year.
- Committee ran two successful WTA Pre-retirement Seminars.
- Committee was able to successfully accommodate all individuals who wished to attend the Pre-retirement Seminars as well as the Maternity/Adoptive/Parental Leave Seminars.
Recommendations:
- Depending on the composition of the Committee, a half-day training workshop for new Committee members will be held towards the end of September, if needed.
- Monitoring of service delivery and usage for both the Extended Health Benefits Plan and the Dental Plan will continue in relation to active members and retired members (EHB) to ensure that all plans continue to be self-sustaining.
- WTA will continue to offer at least two Pre-retirement Seminars in 2010/2011 and will make every effort to ensure those wishing to participate can do so.
- WTA will continue to offer at least two Maternity/Adoptive/Parental Leave Seminars in 2010/2011.
- That the WTA Group Benefits Committee will continue to inform members of benefits information via articles in the newsletter and through announcements at Council meetings.
