Athletic Therapy is the prevention, immediate care and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries by a Certified Athletic Therapist. It involves the assessment of physical function, the treatment of dysfunction caused by pain and/or injury in order to develop, maintain and maximize independence and prevent dysfunction.
It is not solely for “athletes”.
A Certified Athletic Therapist utilizes contemporary rehabilitative techniques, therapies, physical reconditioning, and supportive procedures to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing in preparing the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle.
Active WTA members insured under Manulife have a combined practitioner maximum of $1,000 per calendar year per insured for Physiotherapist, Athletic Therapist, and Occupational Therapist at 80%. You do not require a physician’s prescription to access these services.
